Brenda Rock is a Hatha and Restorative yoga teacher and a massage therapist. Brenda returned to her Slane roots after living and training in Galway for ten years.
Brenda received her 500hr certification in Hatha Yoga from Yoga Therapy Ireland in 2013 and has already expanded her learning by attending teachings lead by Judith Lasater, Amy Matthews, Donna Farhi, Brian Ingle. She holds regular classes and workshops at Ananda Centre. One to one therapy sessions and group bookings also available. She continues her professional studies with a particular interest in Restorative Yoga. Recently she has undertaken studies in Cancer Conscious Yoga – Yoga in a Cancer Care setting. Brenda also teaches Chair Yoga to residents in a local nursing home.
Brenda is trained and experienced in the following modalities; Deep Tissue Massage, Holistic Massage, Pregnancy Massage and On-Site Chair Massage. Brenda has also qualified in ‘Massage for People Living with Cancer’ with renowned Oncology Massage Therapist, Gayle MacDonald. This, she says, adds an even richer element to her already rewarding work.
Brenda’s clients come from across the spectrum, from marathon runners to stressed out CEO’s, from nurses to labourers, from the pre-exam student to the person needing gentle work in palliative care.
Brenda has her own personal experience which drew her to the Healing Arts. Having suffered from Asthma and acute back pain for many years when she was younger, she found that both massage therapy and yoga were key to her recovery. Nowadays she is pain free and breathes easily. She wants to share this knowledge.
“I want people to know that they can take back control of their bodies and stop pain. I want to use massage therapy with people to help alleviate the pain but I want them to take responsibility too for their bodies by giving them the tools to do exactly that. These tools can be mastered through the practice of Yoga, breath-work and meditation”.
