Aromatherapy Lessens Schoolteachers’ Stress

noseAromatherapy involves effecting health benefits through the inhalation of scents from essential oils, and is a technique used by many massage therapists qualified in such. New research shows aromatherapy benefits the autonomic nervous system among primary school staff.

For this study, 54 primary school teachers in the USA were recruited to evaluate aromatherapy performance on stress reduction, according to an abstract published on http://www.pubmed.ogv.

“Bergamot essential oil was used for aromatherapy spray for 10 minutes,” the researchers noted. “Blood pressure and autonomic nervous system parameters were recorded five minutes before and after the application of the aroma spray.”

Results showed that there were significant decreases in blood pressure and heart rate.
